Accelerating Project Delivery With Agile

At Farmers Insurance, a personal and business insurance company, Jodie effectively built and led a multiple Agile Release Trains (ART). The trains included Product Owners, mobile and web developers, scrum masters, and business owners. The projects were primarily for the digital platforms that served our customer self service portal. Jodie's implementation of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), such as Kanban and Scrum, and Agile Product Delivery increased efficiency, production and the flow of features.  

Jodie's Role

• Worked collaboratively and implemented the Lean-Agile framework where the team had daily time-boxed stand-up meetings, sprints, sprint reviews, and retrospectives. The goal was always to learn from the process, validate the learnings, improve faster, and have fun with the journey.
• Jodie was responsible for forecasting Sprint team capacity with product marketing managers and concerned business partners. She managed the creative queue, adjusting priorities according to the needs of the business on the Program Kanban board in Rally/Jira.
• To improve transparency, Jodie facilitated weekly syncs giving executive leadership, stakeholders and product teams updates about the committed/uncommitted objectives to foster transparency across groups.
• Created a product management process for the business team and increased productivity by defining and tracking success metrics and prioritizing the queue. Jodie created a Kanban board to make it easier for each member to know who was responsible for what, the queue limit, and also when the next iteration would be.
• Held weekly discussions with Architects and technical leads to promote a DevOps mindset, culture and technical practices that supports the integrations, automation, and collaboration needed to effectively develop and operate a solution.
